Today most people have learned to see life as difficult and stressful. I truly believe it is exactly this image of misperception about life which is manifesting in the lives of many people. What you believe within you will surely come to be.
Life is not difficult or stressful, it is simply teaching us to live to be our best. We mostly feel stressed out in time of change when we either put excessive pressure on ourself or feel pressurized from outside. If you start to pay attention to the little things around you which are there to give you comfort and pleasure, you'll soon begin to change your perception about life and change.
Here are 5 simple ways to help retrain your focus for a more pleasant life.
- When something unpleasant happens in your life, remind yourself that it is life's way of challenging you. Make up your mind to face the challenge with inner strength and calmness.
- Keep a journal and get into the habit of putting your thoughts into writing. This helps remove uneasy thoughts from "spooking" around in your head perpetually. You'll be emotionally free to concentrate better on what is around you.
- Remember that the purpose of any life is to live every day consciously and to the fullest. Whatever you do just put your heart fully to it. Take the change in your life as a sign to move on and work on doing exactly that. The quality of your work matters more than the quantity. I have found that I always feel more joyful and encouraged when I have spent a whole afternoon pouring my heart out writing a great article to help others, rather than chasing after completing 4-5 other things when my heart is truly not in doing them at that moment.
- Money problem should neither be overrated nor oversimplified. Money issues can eat away at you if you allow it to. Don't become a slave to what I call "the number 1 inner peace usurper" of most people. Recognise any financial problem as a sign of inner fear which you haven't yet learned to meet constructively. Get help to deal with your hidden fears.
- Don't put pressure on yourself. If you're not up to something, or you simply can't bring yourself to agree to something, then DONT. There isn't any rule in the book of life that says, you have to do things to make other people like or accept you. Most people are responsible for the level of stress in their lives, because they chase around trying to please everyone else except themselves. The more stress you experience, the lesser the quality of your life.
